I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. If your child is going to be absent before or after the winter break, please let me know. We will be completing each of our units of study and finalizing grades over the next few weeks in preparation for the 2nd quarter ending and report cards being sent out.
Sign and Returns- Please send back sign and return papers as soon as possible. Thanks Reading- This week, we will continue learning how to identify the author’s point of view of nonfiction texts. This grammar test will include verb tenses (past: ed to end of words, present: sometimes adds s to the end of words, future: adds will before the verb), irregular verbs, reference materials, and types of sentences. Examples include: declarative- gives a statement (ends in a period) interrogative- asks a question (ends in a question mark) exclamatory- shows a lot of feeling (ends in an exclamation point) imperative- gives a command (ends in a period or exclamation point) Spelling –Students will concentrate on Sort 17 this week. Students will also include facts, definitions and transition words in their writing. Science: We will continue our unit on rocks, minerals, erosion, weathering and soil this week. Students will explain how water and wind can affect rocks and soil through weathering and erosion. Important Dates December 4th: No lunch visitors (students will eat in classrooms). Remember that we will only have lunches for the students that signed up and said they needed a lunch this day.
