Hello parents,
I hope you made some wonderful memories with your kids over the long weekend! Welcome back Mrs. Fletcher! We are so happy to have you back with your third grade team! Spelling- Sorts 25, 26, 27. Focus on sort 25 this week. The spelling quiz on this unit will be given March 8. Reading- This week we will begin studying figurative language. Our focus will be on similes and metaphors this week. An example of a simile is “as big as an elephant.” An example of a metaphor is, “Your brain is a computer.” Writing- We will continue to work on opinion writing. Students are reading two articles about the same topic written from two different points of view. Students are then forming their own opinion about the topic using evidence from the articles to support their own opinion. Grammar- This week we will be reviewing commas and quotation marks in dialogue, comparative and superlative adjectives, and prefixes, suffixes, and roots. Students will take a test covering each of these next week (February 25- March 1).
Social Studies – We are starting our unit on American Government. In this unit, we will be learning about the National, State, and Local Governments, how they are organized, who leads each branch, and their responsibilities. Upcoming dates and reminders:
Have a wonderful week! Comments are closed.
